Fishing, Family and Fun in Flamingo

Experience Legendary Sportfishing and Support Costa Rican Communities

Nestled along the northern Pacific coast of Costa Rica, Flamingo is renowned as one of the world’s legendary sportfishing destinations. This laid-back beach community offers anglers the opportunity to quickly access rich fishing grounds teeming with a variety of sought-after species. Offshore, you’ll find all three species of marlin—blue, black, and striped—as well as acrobatic sailfish, powerful tuna, speedy wahoo, and vibrant mahi-mahi (known locally as dorado

Inspired by Flamingo’s exceptional fishing and a desire to return to the sport’s roots, the Presidential Challenge Charitable Foundation proudly announces the 11th Presidential Flamingo Fishing Rodeo. This exciting event will take place at Marina Flamingo from July 17 to 19, 2026, promising both thrilling competition and a celebration of the region’s fishing heritage.

The tournament’s mission is to restore Flamingo’s reputation as a premier fishing destination by helping local charter captains connect with new clients during the event. In addition to promoting tourism and the sportfishing industry, the tournament will support marine conservation efforts in Costa Rica and charities in and around Playa Flamingo.

  • Charter Boats: Local charter captains are encouraged to participate and showcase their expertise.
  • Private Boats: Private boat owners are also welcome to join the fun and competition.

For more information on the tournament or to inquire about available charter boats, please contact tournament coordinator Joan Vernon at [email protected].
